ABOUT ABIDE DESIGN + HOME

“Talent is good. Practice is better. Passion is best!!!”

Hello!

My name is Christy Hurst and I am the owner of Abide Design+Home. I’m creative with a passion for helping people and making things beautiful! As a designer, my God given joy for creating was fostered during my childhood, strengthened with my academic training, and continues to be exercised in the workplace.

Born in South Louisiana, I’m a lover of all things French and appreciate the beauty of the outdoors. At the age of 13, my parents gave me the opportunity to cultivate my curiosity about art. A spark began while drawing on the banks of a lake, painting to the rhythm of music from the 70’s, and creating with a diverse group under the guidance of an eclectic art teacher.

My academic training and credentials are a firm foundation of exposure to ideas and principles. I am a member of ASID which is the oldest and largest professional organization for interior designers. I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Majoring in fashion merchandising and minoring in art opened the door for me to intern with the unparalleled retailer, Neiman Marcus. That experience partnered with a summer of studying art at San Diego State University and exploring the Pacific coast are components to my training in design.

I have worn many hats in the work place. For the past 20 years, I have been involved in 100 plus design projects. Visions for the designs from idea to reality have been my experiences. In addition to renovations, I enjoyed the opportunity to inspire others to create through teaching art for many years.

I am happily married to my best friend and faithful anchor, my husband. Together we have one precious daughter and two amazing sons. As the owner of Abide Design+ Home, I hope to have the honor to share my passion for design and people by serving you!

Blessings,
Christy Hurst
